Overview
The North Alabama High School Swim League (NAHSSL) is dedicated to providing competitive opportunities for high schools across the region. Membership is open to schools that meet specific eligibility criteria and adhere to League and State standards.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for membership, a school must meet the following conditions:
- AHSAA Status: The school must be a member high school of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and must be in "good standing" with the AHSAA.
- Location: The school must be located in the general North Alabama area.
- Compliance: Any member found to be intentionally violating AHSAA rules will face immediate suspension from the League.
Application Process
Joining the league involves two primary steps:
- Submit an Application: Prospective schools must complete and submit a membership application to the NAHSSL Board of Directors.
- Pay Dues: Membership is contingent upon the payment of dues and fees according to the current fee schedule. The fee schedule is announced annually by the Board of Directors at the General Membership Meeting.

Member Responsibilities
Once admitted, every Member High School must fulfill the following operational duties:
- Appoint a Representative: Each school must designate one official Representative to act on its behalf.
- This person can be the swim coach, the Athletic Director, or a parent of a participating swimmer.
- It is the school's responsibility to keep the League informed of this Representative’s current contact information at all times.
- Voting Rights: Each Member School is entitled to one (1) vote on matters submitted at membership meetings, including the election of the Board of Directors.
Meetings
- Annual General Meeting: Schools are expected to participate in the annual meeting held in March for the election of Directors and transaction of league business.
- Special Meetings: The Board may call additional meetings throughout the year to organize swim meets, and schools are expected to attend.
